Main principle of S355JOWP weathering steel:
A certain amount of alloy elements such as P, Cu, Cr, Ni, Mo are added to the steel. In order to increase the resistance to air corrosion, under the influence of climatic conditions, an automatic protective oxide is generated on the base metal, which forms a dense and highly adhesive protective film on the steel surface, hinders the diffusion and development of corrosion, protects the substrate under the rust layer, and slows down its corrosion rate. About 50 μ m～100 μ The m thick amorphous spinel oxide layer is dense and has good adhesion with the base metal. Because of the existence of this dense oxide film, it prevents oxygen and water in the atmosphere from infiltrating into the steel substrate, slows down the deep development of corroded steel materials, and greatly improves the atmospheric corrosion resistance of steel materials. Weldability of S355JOWP weathering steel:
If the welding wire without improved atmospheric corrosion resistance is used, ensure that the welding can be weather resistant. Before welding, any surface layer that has been arranged shall be moved 10-20mm away from the connecting end. Specified precautions shall be taken when welding steel grades S355JOWPP and S355J2WP with high phosphorus content.
